Common Questions
Are your coins authentic?
Yes. American Crest Metals sources products through established commercial channels and inspects items before fulfillment. Product specifications, certification details, condition descriptions, and packaging information are shown on the product page when applicable.
Third-party certified coins remain subject to the authentication and grading opinion of the grading service shown on the holder.
Will I receive the exact coin shown in the photos?
Only when the product page specifically states “Exact Coin Photographed” or similar wording.
For products labeled Random Year, Random Date, Our Choice, or using representative images, the year, mint mark, label, holder style, toning, packaging, or minor surface appearance may vary while still meeting the listed specifications.
What does “Random Year” mean?
“Random Year” means the year of the coin is selected from available inventory at the time of fulfillment.
The coin you receive may not match the year shown in the product image unless the listing specifically guarantees a particular date.
Why may the coin look different from the product image?
Coin color, toning, luster, surface marks, reflectivity, and packaging can appear different because of lighting, camera settings, screen settings, natural aging, circulation, and normal production variation.
Representative images are used when multiple qualifying coins may be shipped from the same listing.
Are your coins cleaned or altered?
We disclose known condition details whenever reasonably available. Raw and circulated coins may show marks, toning, wear, residue, cleaning, or other evidence of previous handling.
Certified coins are sold in the holder issued by the grading service. Customers should review all product images and descriptions before ordering.
What is the difference between Cull, Circulated, AU, and BU?
Cull coins may have heavy wear, damage, cleaning, scratches, discoloration, or other significant imperfections.
Circulated coins show visible wear from use.
AU, or About Uncirculated, coins show only light wear on the highest points.
BU, or Brilliant Uncirculated, generally refers to coins with no circulation wear, although contact marks, spotting, toning, or other mint-related imperfections may still be present.
What does “Proof” mean?
A Proof coin is specially manufactured using polished dies and prepared planchets, often producing mirrored fields and sharply defined details.
“Proof” describes the method of manufacture and does not automatically mean the coin is flawless.
What does “Our Choice” mean?
“Our Choice” means American Crest Metals selects the qualifying product from available inventory.
The year, mint mark, packaging, holder, label, or minor appearance may vary unless the product page states otherwise.
How should I handle and store collectible coins?
Avoid touching the coin’s surfaces. Hold raw coins only by the edges and keep them in appropriate capsules, holders, or archival-quality storage.
Do not clean, polish, or chemically treat collectible coins, as doing so may permanently reduce their value.
What are PCGS and NGC?
PCGS and NGC are independent third-party coin grading and authentication services.
They examine coins, assign grades or designations, and encapsulate qualifying coins in tamper-evident holders.
How can I verify a certification number?
Locate the certification number printed on the grading label and enter it into the verification tool provided by the grading service named on the holder.
The certification database may provide grade, coin type, population, and image information when available.
Does a certified grade guarantee future value?
No. A certified grade is an opinion regarding authenticity and condition at the time of grading.
It does not guarantee future market value, resale price, liquidity, investment performance, or acceptance by another buyer or dealer.
Will the slab and label match the product image?
For an Exact Coin Photographed listing, the certification number and identifying holder details should match the listing.
For representative-image or inventory-based listings, the grading service, grade, coin type, label design, and holder generation may vary unless specifically guaranteed.
When is my order confirmed?
After checkout, you will receive an order-confirmation email acknowledging that the order was submitted.
Orders may remain subject to payment confirmation, inventory verification, address review, fraud screening, and other security checks before fulfillment.
Can American Crest Metals cancel an order?
We may cancel or hold an order because of payment failure, inventory error, incorrect pricing, suspected fraud, shipping restrictions, verification issues, or other operational or legal concerns.
If we cancel an order, the amount collected for the canceled portion will be refunded.
Why does my order require additional verification?
Precious metals and collectible coins can involve high-value transactions. Additional verification may be requested to protect the customer, prevent unauthorized transactions, satisfy payment-provider requirements, and reduce fraud.
Verification may include confirming billing information, shipping information, identity, or payment authorization.
Can I change or cancel my order?
You may request a change or cancellation before the order enters processing or shipment, but approval is not guaranteed.
Orders involving bullion or market-priced products may become final once accepted because prices can change with the precious-metals market.
How long does order processing take?
Most orders are prepared within 1–3 business days after payment is confirmed.
High-value orders, payment reviews, address verification, weekends, holidays, or unusual order activity may require additional time.
Is shipping tracked?
Yes. Tracking information is normally emailed after the carrier accepts or scans the package.
Tracking events may take 24–72 hours to appear after shipment.
Is shipping insured?
Eligible shipments may include insurance subject to the carrier, shipping method, order value, destination, and insurance-provider terms.
Customers must report damage, loss, or delivery concerns promptly and retain all packaging and documentation while a claim is reviewed.
Is a signature required?
A signature may be required depending on the order value, destination, product type, payment method, carrier, or fraud-risk review.
Signature requirements may not always be removed after the order has been processed.
Why has my tracking number not updated?
Tracking information may not update until the carrier performs the first physical scan.
Allow up to 24–72 hours after shipment. Delays can also occur because of weekends, holidays, weather, carrier congestion, or security processing.
What should I do if tracking shows delivered but I cannot find the package?
Check with household members, neighbors, building management, reception staff, mailrooms, and the carrier.
Contact American Crest Metals promptly and no later than 7 calendar days after the delivery scan. A claim may require carrier records, delivery photographs, signature information, or other documentation.
What is your return window?
Eligible products may be returned within 30 calendar days after confirmed delivery, subject to the Return & Refund Policy.
A return must be authorized before the item is shipped back.
Are bullion products returnable?
Bullion and other market-priced products are generally not returnable because their value is affected by changing precious-metals markets.
A market-price decline, buyer preference, or change in resale value is not considered a product defect.
Can certified or slabbed coins be returned?
An eligible certified coin must remain in its original, unopened, and unaltered holder.
Coins removed from slabs, opened packaging, altered labels, damaged holders, or products with mismatched certification details may be refused.
What should I do if my order arrives damaged or incorrect?
Contact us within 7 calendar days after delivery.
Include your order number, a description of the issue, and clear photographs of the product, holder, certification label, packaging, shipping carton, and shipping label.
Keep all materials until the claim is resolved.
Who pays for return shipping?
American Crest Metals will provide appropriate instructions when a return results from a confirmed fulfillment error, incorrect item, or qualifying defect.
For other approved returns, the customer may be responsible for return shipping, tracking, insurance, and secure packaging.
How long does a refund take?
Approved refunds are generally issued to the original payment method within 5–10 business days after the returned item has been inspected.
Banks and payment providers may require additional processing time.
How is my personal information used?
Personal information may be used to process orders, verify payments, deliver shipments, prevent fraud, provide customer support, improve the store, and comply with legal obligations.
More details are available in the Privacy Policy.
Do you store my full payment-card number?
Payment information is generally processed by Shopify and authorized payment providers.
American Crest Metals typically receives transaction status and limited payment details rather than full payment-card numbers.
